WSAME Multicultural Diversity Network Continues to Serve Needs

September 17 Meeting Topic: Providing Culturally Relevant Professional Development Training for Your In-House Trainers: Contracting can be costly to organizations and doesn't always provide the on-going support necessary for systemic change. Training staff to provide Culturally Relevant Professional Development (CRPD) is a great way to create change within your work setting. Dr. Caprice Hollins and Ilsa Govan, from Cross Cultural Connections, will share tips and techniques on how to present sensitive information to a wide audience of learners, and strategies for addressing some of the common pitfalls in facilitation of equity and race related topics. Attendees will also have time to share experiences, ask questions, discuss issues and brainstorming ideas. You are encouraged to invite others you work with, or know, who may be interested in this "train the trainers" short workshop and conversation. Please RSVP by September 12!
The WSAME Multicultural/Diversity Network, serving coordinators, directors and administrators of public, private P-12, higher education, agencies and organizations meet every two months to discuss and share issues and concerns related to multicultural, diversity, equity and social justice programs, training, resources and support. Members set the changing agendas to meet their needs and share hosting opportunities. The last two meetings in 2008 are scheduled for September 17 and November 19th.
For more information about the network, to become a member or to attend the next meeting, contact WSAME Executive Director, Dr. Cynthia Rekdal at the WSAME office: 206-522-5438 or email wsame@mindspring.com.
